Death - tough subject but one we all face

I guess I understand why people don't like to talk about death. But, what I don't understand is how people dislike it so much that they refuse to think about it or to plan for it. It's no surprise that researchers have concluded that one out of one people will die.

I suppose that most people have decided (a) they won't think about it until they are really, really old and are about to die, or (b) there's not much they can do about it, so why think about it., or (c) it's too sad so they refuse to think about it.

Well, I think that's really foolish. I think we ought to talk about it so that we can prepare people for it BEFORE they die!

By the way, I've been talking about it with my kids and Stephen doesn't want me to die because then I couldn't play Wii with him (he beats me at baseball) and because then they'd have to delete my Mii. Thank you Nintendo for helping my children understand what is most important in life!!! :)

Three things I've been telling my children.

1. If I die, don't be sad for me. I'll be in Heaven with Jesus!! It just doesn't get any better than that!

2. God can and will take care of you. He's the One taking care of you right now. You only think that I"m the one taking care of you but it's really God who is using me and Silvia (they know her as Mommy) to take care of you. So, if I die, don't worry, God will still take care of you. He can do that, He's God.

3. I'll see you in Heaven. But, take your time getting there. God may have some big plans for you down here.
